SABIC Women’s Network Rebranding and Repositioning

Challenge

The SABIC women’s network (SWN,) though a valuable networking organization for female employees needed a refresh after 10 years to its purpose. It was not serving as the platform for female colleagues to develop and position the female perspective for the business.

Actions

A cross functional, cross regional and cross gender team was constituted to refresh the strategy for SWN. This included defining a vision that met the needs to todays and the future female workforce of SABIC and to position SABIC as a desirable employer for women. This working group in addition to refreshing the strategy, created an improved structure, created KPI and an operating rhythm. This structure included leadership commitment from the senior most leadership at SABIC as well as clear roles and responsibilities for every member.

Outcomes

A clear framework on achieving 3 goals of developing women as leaders, influencers and partners. Rebranding of SWN as the SHETM network. KPIs and structured collaboration sessions were developed focusing not only on issues relevant to women but also on women’s active participation in business decisions.
