Professional Apprenticeships as a Route to the Boardroom

Challenge

Helping talent from a diversity of backgrounds advance in their roles by providing high-quality training and professional coaching.

Actions

Multiverse’s professional apprenticeships are 12+ month applied learning experiences focused on developing in-demand skills, such as software engineering and data analytics. Apprentices are paid, full-time employees who build skills through bootcamps and workshops, then apply those skills on projects at work. Each apprentice also receives monthly 1:1 coaching, enabling them to continuously refine their skills and grow professionally. Finally, these programs are entirely free for apprentices and no college degree is required. This empowers people to build skills at any stage of their career.

Outcomes

Professional apprenticeships are an effective way to develop and retain talent. At Multiverse, we have a 99% program completion rate – with 88% of apprentices staying long-term at their companies. Additionally, 91% of apprentices would recommend a Multiverse apprenticeship.

Quote

Diversity, inclusion, and equity are deeply important to our mission as a company, the apprenticeships we offer, and how we approach our work. Laying the path to success for talented people, from a range of backgrounds, means cultivating a culture where they will be supported to succeed.

Having a diverse organization is the right thing to do and every company should be focused on better reflecting the people we serve. But it also makes good business sense - diverse teams are proven to increase fresh ideas, show higher financial returns, and even improve employee retention. Getting this right is firmly at the top of the agenda for many businesses, our own included.
