Metrics and Accountability

Challenge

Provide a public-facing measure of accountability for our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts

Actions

Centene has made intentional investments to develop initiatives that enhance inclusion and opportunity for our workforce, to make Centene an employer of choice, and to improve our ability to deliver better health outcomes for the communities we serve. Accountability to our members, providers, employees, shareholders, and other stakeholders is a critical part of our strategy.  The DEI “C-Index Annual Report” highlights and tracks our progress in fostering and strengthening diversity, equity, and inclusion and demonstrates Centene's commitment to building an equitable and inclusive environment.

Outcomes

This annual reporting now serves as our “stake-in-the-ground” for accountability and solidifies Centene’s commitment to driving diversity, equity, and inclusion.  The report spotlights our programs, investments, partnerships, and metrics to ensure that Centene continues designing solutions to best support our employees and improve access to care for vulnerable communities and individuals. The report also explicitly states commitments that Centene will make to drive greater diversity, equity and inclusion in the year ahead.

At Centene, diversity, equity, and inclusion are an intrinsic part of who we are. Taking part in this pledge shows our commitment to embracing and respecting the range of experiences and viewpoints that our employees bring to work every day. Our diverse and inclusive workforce is a vital part of how we serve our members and communities to shape a better world of healthcare and deliver on our purpose of transforming the health of the community, one person at a time.
