Living Well: Benefits for Holistic Well-Being

Challenge:

Fannie Mae recognized that the needs and personal goals of our workforce vary widely. We listened to feedback and evaluated how to best support colleagues’ holistic well-being.

Actions:

In 2022, Fannie Mae reframed our portfolio of competitive, life-encompassing employee benefits, programs, and resources to help employees along their well-being journey while building a sustainable future.

Outcomes:

Our new Live Well program focuses on health, finances, career, work-life fit, and community, with each playing an important role in how we show up for work and deliver on Fannie Mae’s mission.

Health benefits include competitive medical, dental and vision insurance, sick leave, and an Employee Assistance Program that offers access to counselors and resources regardless of medical plan enrollment. We expanded hearing aid coverage, eliminated additional barriers to family forming care, and added a new access point to mental health care.

Opportunities for employees to achieve future financial goals include a competitive compensation structure, and, for eligible employees, a student loan repayment program and up to $10K of assistance toward the purchase of a home. Financial benefits were recently expanded to include an additional 2% employer 401(K) contribution, a Lifestyle Spending Account, and a family surrogacy reimbursement program.

Career resources help employees direct and advance their own paths for career mobility and promotion, extensive training opportunities, assistance for collegiate education, and employee recognition awards.

Our work-life fit balances our mission-centered work with the full life employees envision, including hybrid work, flex hours, eldercare consultant services, and various leave programs, such as home purchase and family sick leaves. We updated leave programs to include enhanced vacation leave, caregiver leave, home catastrophe leave, grandparents leave, and doubling our paid parental leave. Our Flex Fridays allow employees, who are able, to finish their business week at 1 p.m. Friday year-round and use this time however they choose.

Community is at the heart of Fannie Mae and we support our employees’ commitment with paid volunteer leave, team volunteering and giving opportunities, matching gifts, and Employee Resource Groups.

The Live Well program offers benefits, programs, and resources that help during moments that matter. We are committed to continuous improvement, and routinely listen to feedback and evaluate how we can best support employees’ diverse needs and goals. Learn more here.
