JEDI Advisory Board (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion)

Challenge

At Karius we strive to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism to uphold our core belief of working together across the organization, at all levels to enable life saving treatment decisions. We believe that by building a talented and diverse workforce and driving patient-centric focus through internal, local, and regional efforts, we will continue to have greater collective impact in people's lives.

Actions

The JEDI Advisory Board exists to promote and uphold Karius’s engagement with Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion by 1) providing strategic recommendations to the Karius Leadership Team, 2) committing actions along the following topic areas: Social Responsibility, Talent Management, Brand, Services and Sales, Measurement and Accountability, Inclusive Culture, and Supplier Diversity and 3). Holding ourselves accountable through external commitments and pledges.

Outcomes

In its second year, the JEDI Advisory Board has worked on several key initiatives to advance Karius’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. We have added diversity metrics to our applicant tracking, and are using the metrics to identify inequities in our hiring practices. We have led local volunteering and fundraising efforts with organizations such as Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, RRRComputer.org, and St. Jude. We have invited guest speakers to speak at Karius on: “Being an Anti-Racist”, “Creating Equity in Healthcare” and “Mindfulness Practices”.
