Fresenius Medical Care’s Health Equity Focus

Challenge:

Our commitment to health equity means expanding our knowledge and services to eliminate inequities through our capabilities and partnerships with key community organizations. Fresenius Medical Care’s Kidney Kid program exemplifies our commitment to health equity in action, bringing kidney health education to children in at-risk communities that are disproportionately comprised of people of color. The Kidney Kid is an edutainment (education + entertainment) program for children and their caregivers that teaches the importance of kidney health. In 2022, The Kidney Kid initiative came to life in the U.S. through a nationwide partnership between Fresenius Medical Care and Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). This partnership also included a $250,000 donation to BGCA’s Healthy Habits program that encourages children nationwide to improve their health through healthy eating and living habits. Additionally, in 20 Boys & Girls Clubs nationally, our employees are educating youth about the importance of kidney health via online games, videos, comic books, and in-person activities.
