Establishment of the Executive Diversity Committee

Challenge

As one of the oldest Hispanic-owned firms, Ramirez has embodied a culture of diversity and inclusion since 1971. However, in 2021, senior leaders hip felt it was important to create an executive diversity committee in order to grow a range of existing initiatives and ensure that the current culture of diversity and inclusion is maintained and seen as a key components of future generations of Ramirez employees.

Actions

The Ramirez Executive Diversity Committee is comprised of all regional department heads and senior leadership of the firm. This committee, led by Sam Ramirez Jr., meets regularly to set company policies and discuss firm wide hiring, training, promotions, and all efforts related to diversity, equity and inclusion.

 

Outcomes

Since establishing the Executive Diversity Committee, Ramirez has been able to increase the level and the impact of our charitable giving reaching 100+ charities across 18 different causes. An emphasis has been placed on the growth of our existing mentorship and interns hip programs across all departments resulting in 100% of 2021 interns being ethnically diverse, women, or veterans. All in all, the creation of this working group has allowed Ramirez to create the greatest impact and change across our organization, our industry, and our communities.
