Outcomes

Good progress on our DE&I journey. At ServiceMax our DE&I mission is "to drive talent, culture, community and thought leadership programs which support diversity, equity and inclusion so we can enhance employee understanding, deliver better business outcomes and make a positive impact on the world." Enhancing employee understanding is at the center of our DE&I mission and one of our first priorities was to bring opportunities for inclusion education and training to our employees. We are a small company and did not have a history of organizational development and training programs but felt it was very important to invest our time and resources into this. We initially focused on unconscious bias training and a racial equity and social justice challenge. The first in a series of bias training was rolled out to all employees last year. We realize it's a journey and that unconscious bias won't be eliminated with a 30-minute training. The goal of the training was to help us explore biases we may or may not know that we have, as well as how they impact us both at work and in everyday life. The course is a little different from other unconscious bias learnings with the goal of becoming more aware of unconscious bias and how it can affect your decision-making. To date 77% of the company has completed the course and all hiring managers are required to complete it. We also worked with the YWCA to deliver a 21 Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge in 2020 and again in 2021. The challenge is designed to create dedicated time and space to build more effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of race, power, privilege, and leadership through a series of activities such as reading an article, listening to a podcast or reflecting on a personal experience. This provides the opportunity to dive deep into racial equity and social justice over a 21-day period with weekly wrap up sessions.
