DEI Company-Wide Training

Challenge

To better live out the Mission and Values of Tractor Supply, we made it a goal to diminish unconscious biases, promote inclusiveness, and offer a welcoming environment to our Team Members, customers, and communities.

Actions

Beginning in the 3rd quarter of 2020 we set out on a mission to educate all Team Members on the topics of unconscious-bias and inclusiveness. We offered a Conscious Inclusion, Instructor Led - Training to our District Managers and all people leaders at our Store Support Center and Distribution Centers. This Instructor Led – Training added up to be over 2,000 hours of training and reached nearly 1,000 Team Members. Our Store Managers and all Individual Contributors in the company received an E-learning training on “The Need for Inclusion”. This E-learning training reached nearly 40,000 Team Members. In Q1 of 2021, we will offer Inclusive Leadership Instructor Led – Training to nearly 2000 of our Store Managers. 

Outcomes

These training sessions focused on how to create an environment where differences can be understood and leveraged through inclusive behaviors. Team Members were taught how to be more inclusive and live out our values of Respect and Teamwork. Our value of Respect focuses on treating others with the same personal and professional consideration we expect for ourselves. The value of Teamwork concentrates on valuing different viewpoints and achieving more together. Team Members walked away from these trainings knowing how to appreciate differences, notice impacts and disrupt bias. The training helped Team Members to understand that we all have biases, conscious and unconscious, that can potentially get in the way of our success as an organization. Team Members also learned actions on how not to let these biases negatively impact our culture. Overall our Team Members learned that we are all human, we are all unique, and we all add value.
