The Centric Together Initiative and a new DEI Lead

While creating a healthy and inclusive work culture has always been part of Centric’s vision, in 2020 we became much more active and engaged in DEI as a core component of our business. We launched Centric Together (CT), a company-wide DEI initiative that consists of six pillars of DEI action, and an employee-led working group for each one. A total of 80 employees from across the enterprise help lead this effort and execute on Pillar goals. We also successfully recruited a Leadership-level role - DEI Lead - to work through
Centric Together across the entire company to help us translate our vision into meaningful and measurable progress:

Centric Together - Six Pillars

  • Diversify: promoting diversity in recruiting and optimizing the candidate experience.
  • Nurture: ensuring unmatched experiences for all employees by creating equity in opportunity and belonging.
  • Learn: developing our leaders and grow and retain our employees through access to DEI education.
  • Connect: impacting our local communities by developing a National Giving and Social Impact program.
  • Share: elevating diverse voices and sharing our DEI story both within Centric and externally.
  • Measure: promoting consistency and transparency in DEI data collection and analysis.

Our Centric Together Goals for 2022

Overall Goal #1: Develop a clear and consistent message on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and socialize it across Centric.

Best Practices

  • Define what we mean by DEI and related words.
  • Conduct outreach to stakeholders in different parts of Centric to build awareness and unity.
  • Engage Centric Leadership to be champions for the message.
  • Make Centric Together and our DEI goals more visible across all the major company touchpoints.

Ways to Measure Success

  • # people aware of the DEI messaging/definitions and how it applies to their workplace (survey)
  • # of internal and external communication platforms promoting Centric’s DEI message and priorities
  • Integration of DEI messaging into Centric’s business and culture practices

Overall Goal #2: Develop relevant and accessible guidance/resources on how Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Centric should be applied to key components of our operations and partner with relevant stakeholders to integrate them into those processes.

Best Practices:

  • Develop from the perspective of changing how we function in that area rather than adding on.
  • Articulate how this practice or resource will help Centric fulfill its business and workforce strategy
  • Create resources/guidance that connect to Centric’s Core Values
  • Identify and engage the key people needed to understand the issue & champion new practices.
  • Celebrate and spotlight “wins” and collaborations that produce positive results along the way.

Ways to Measure Success:

  • # of people using resources
  • Degree of operationalization into Centric’s business and culture practices
  • Results in recruitment #s, attrition #s, promotion #s

This pledge underscores our ongoing and rigorous commitment to DEI as a core component of our business. Centric has always prided itself on creating a great culture for our employees but we are challenging our notions of exclusivity. In order to do that we have to listen, collaborate and learn from others and this pledge will help us do that.
