Be My Neighbor Days

Challenge

Expanding and strengthening diversity and inclusion efforts at Be My Neighbor Days events.

Actions

Fred Rogers Productions awarded five stations with pilot grants to help support the planning and execution of new initiative.

In celebration of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Fred Rogers Productions works with local PBS stations to host Be My Neighbor Day community events across the country. Building on the values and themes of the television series, these free events are an opportunity for member stations to collaborate with new and existing partners and connect with children, families and educators. This grant cycle, with support from PNC Grow Up Great®, Fred Rogers Productions awarded five stations with pilot grants to help support the planning and execution of a new initiative aimed at expanding and strengthening diversity and inclusion efforts at Be My Neighbor Days. We recognize that local stations are reaching audiences and communities in many dynamic ways, and this pilot program offers FRP and local stations a platform for collaboration and learning.

The Be My Neighbor Day outreach helps promote local volunteerism, family engagement, and community development, while sharing information and activities with families that support diversity, equity, and inclusion within the community. Resources, including activity ideas, signage, event and promotional materials, coloring sheets, songs, and more are offered for local engagements.

Outcomes
