Work/Life Flexibility and Benefits at ProTitle USA

Challenge

During an annual employee survey, we received a few concerns about paid time off and sick time. Some employees wrote that they wished to see our paid time off raised a little and there were a few comments about how we were not near the national average for paid time off.

Actions

The CEO and upper management got together to review the concerns written by the employees to review what else could be offered.

Outcomes

The team reviewed what was currently being offered. Since we are a small growing business, paid time off and benefits are usually reviewed annually in order to stay competitive. Since COVID-19 happened, we did not review or offer additional benefits since we did not know how the business would be and what we could offer. Our business did have a slow down due to COVID-19. Since we received the concerns, the team began by researching what the national average was. We originally started providing sick time two years prior at two days. After reviewing, it was upped to seven days for all employees. Paid time off was also reviewed. Before the survey, employees were receiving seven days paid time off and then an additional day for each year the employee was with the company. The base amount was increased to eleven paid days off. New brackets were also made to increase the time off based on the years of employment. Employees that were with the company for 5-9 years received 15 paid days off and employees who were with the company between 10-14 years received 20 paid days off. Management’s paid time off was increased to 20 paid days off as well. After announcing the upgrade to the paid time off, employees voiced their happiness and appreciation. We now feel like we are at a good paid time off structure and our employees are happy with it.
