Women’s Initiatives

Challenge

Timmons Group has implemented a variety of thought-provoking and conscious efforts to support women across our industry. From branch offices to home office environments, we are proud to promote atmospheres where each woman’s role at Timmons Group, and across the A/E/C industry, is honored and appreciated.

Actions

In 2017, Timmons Group launched Women in Design, an internal program that encourages personal and professional development of women within our firm through quarterly workshops and events. The program is for all women working at Timmons Group involved in any aspect of design, including but not limited to engineering, landscape architecture, support services, marketing, and technology. Our goal is to recruit, develop, and retain talented women, which will lead to an increase in the number of women in leadership roles in addition to increasing their influence in our industry. In our February 2021 workshop, participants partook in a live discussion about their strengths as learned through the Gallup Clifton Strengths assessment, a personality survey that puts emphasis on the importance of celebrating women as assets to the workplace.
In 2018, Timmons Group was proud to implement a 100% paid maternity leave protocol. We also offer nursing rooms in all 16 office locations for working mothers. Timmons Group knows that security and privacy is imperative to the success of mothers in the workplace.

Outcomes

As of January 2021, Timmons Group is proud to have three female Principals firmwide. Their roles and titles vary in public and private land development, stormwater engineering, and human resources. In 2017 we added our first female to our Board of Directors. At Timmons Group, we hope to be an industry leader in the development of women’s careers while making a long-term impact on the success of women in the industries we serve.
