Despite national conversations about gender diversity in technology, data shows that women are still underrepresented, underpaid, and often discriminated against in the technology industry. At Pure, we aim to recruit, retain, and develop more women -- all while creating a culture of inclusivity and belonging.
[email protected] is the company’s largest global Employee Resource Group. It is dedicated to raising awareness of the challenges women face in the workplace and providing an open forum where women and their allies can aspire, develop, and collaborate to reach their full potential. With a focus on hiring, promoting, and retaining more women, the group’s annual goals were to double core and ally membership, increase attendance at events, and communicate the vision and mission to the broader employee audience.
To support their goals, [email protected] celebrated International Women's Day 2021, whose theme, “Choose To Challenge,” highlighted the commitment to challenge inequality, call out bias, question stereotypes, and help forge an inclusive world. [email protected] planned a global day of action, including a virtual panel, virtual networking events, and social posts. The event focused on the commitment of Pure’s leadership to gender diversity and highlighted gender pay equity --an achievement that the company has already reached!
The global virtual events celebrated and gave visibility to the accomplishments of women across Pure and across the globe. And it helped to communicate the vision and mission of [email protected] to the broader employee audience. Their efforts resulted in a 36% growth in membership, ongoing increased event attendance in 2021, and expansion in the number of chapters -- which, in turn, creates development opportunities with new chapter leadership roles. And lastly, Pure’s “Employee Value Survey” saw an increase of 4 basis points for women
