Volunteer Time Off

Challenge

Deluxe has been a Minnesota company for more than 105 years, with significant operations in Atlanta as well. The recent death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers and reliving of the Ahmaud Arbery killing not only broke our hearts, but also compelled us to action.

Actions

The civil unrest and social injustice across the country and around the globe has moved our people — our entire team – to action. Deluxe demonstrated this commitment by granting an additional 2 days of volunteer time off to each employee this year to help individuals mourn these tragic events, promote equality and give back to their communities in their own unique way.

Deluxe also provided an additional $1 million to the Deluxe Foundation to combat racism, with funds being specifically earmarked for organizations fighting systemic racism and promoting diversity, inclusion and equity in the communities we serve.

Outcomes

More than 9,000 VTO hours have already been logged, and while it is too early to quantify the results of these efforts, they were something we felt we needed to do in the face of these recent events that shook our employee base and communities to their core.

Quote

I am deeply saddened and angered by these recent events, as all of us are. Every life is precious, and we all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. I’m tired of hearing of these stories with no action taken, and the continued injustice is simply unacceptable. There is more we can and must do as a nation. Now is the time to work toward equality, justice and harmony for all. Now is the time to step forward and create the world we all deserve. Now is the time to be the change we all want to see.
