Veteran Initiatives

Challenge

Ensuring we are being intentional about support for Veterans and Veterans Spouses with opportunities for employment and career growth at Maximus.

Actions

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is a partnership that was established in 2020. The WWP is a non-profit organization that provides various services to veterans who were injured in wartime activities. This partnership allowed Maxi mus to tap into a community of disabled veterans who were seeking employment opportunities. During the first round of Indiana hiring, 112 candidates who met the criteria of veteran, disabled veteran, guard, and military spouse were interviewed for varying degrees of customer service representative positions. Of those interviewed, 94 offers were made and hired for the project. Of the offers made, 50 candidates are from our Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), 30 candidates are disabled veterans, and 14 of the candidates are active National Guard.

Outcomes

This is a model that is working, is sustainable, and replicable.

Quote

We want to become a leading media employer for reservists and transitioning veterans through our recruitment and programs that highlight transferable skills. Hiring veterans isn’t just about supporting the men and women who served our country – it’s a positive business decision.
