Updating and Enhancing our Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Efforts with Action Plan Beginning with a Focus on Racial Justice

Responding to the 2020 Racial Justice Movement with Meaningful Action. 

Actions

With the focus on racial justice that sparked in the Spring of 2020 with the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, we felt we needed to accelerate, focus and/or expand some of our Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging initiatives/plans. We created an updated action plan that focused first on listening to our associates about their thoughts on diversity, inclusion and belonging at SBH and the impact of racial justice issues on their personal and professional lives, then builds toward how we will use their input to develop the next steps in our internal and external Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging efforts.

Outcomes

It is difficult to identify specific outcomes of the actions we recently implemented in response to the 2020 racial justice movement. The initial outcomes we aspire to are a better understanding of our associates’ feelings, priorities and views on this important movement, related issues within our company and where we should focus our resources and action plan.
