Uniting in Our Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

Equinix Colleagues,

In the words of Martin Luther King, “There is a time when silence becomes betrayal.”

As I reflect on the tragic events of this week here in the U.S. and the understandable outrage it has triggered, I am reminded that silence is our enemy in the journey to foster a culture where everybody can truly say “I’m Safe, I Belong and I Matter.”

As we process our emotions this week………anger, disappointment, grief, confusion……..let us choose our words thoughtfully and with a genuine aim of understanding and true progress……..but let us not remain silent.  Talk to each other. Share how you are feeling. Find a positive way to advance the dialogue.  And if you see ways our company can be doing more, tell me. I will be posting this message in the “All Company” channel on our Yammer site as well and invite you to participate in a conversation.

As I have said before, many people around the world, and particularly people of color, and the communities in which they live, continue to face systemic barriers, institutionalized discrimination, ignorance, hate and violence. As a company, we must condemn injustice, unite against hatred and reaffirm our commitment to cultivate a workplace and society that embraces and vigorously defends equality and diversity.

As part of my work with the CEO Action Initiative, I have volunteered to join a Task Force aimed at continuing to drive positive change in both our workplaces and our communities. As that work gets underway, I welcome your input and feedback. We are committed to creating forums for your voice as we undertake that work and as we continue together in preserving “The Magic of Equinix”.

I appreciate each and every one of you and wish you and yours peace in these challenging times. Together, we can make a difference.
