embecta is focused on making significant strides in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) within our organizational framework. Recognizing the pervasive nature of unconscious bias in the workplace, embecta has embarked on a journey to mitigate these biases and foster a culture of inclusivity and belonging.
Recognizing the importance to broaden our recruitment efforts and mitigate unconscious bias, we have taken multi-faceted proactive measures to ensure diverse candidate hiring. Training initiatives for our hiring managers have been successfully implemented, equipping our team with the necessary tools and knowledge to make unbiased hiring decisions. Open dialogue about bias facilitates stronger relationships among colleagues and cultivates a sense of belonging for individuals from diverse backgrounds. In addition, our recruitment team put together a worksheet that we give to each hiring manager when having a recruiting intake meeting on a new opening that once again allows them to have the tools necessary to hire diverse candidates and mitigate biases effectively.
Over the last year, approximately 115 hiring managers in our Holdrege and Dun Laoghaire manufacturing plants have undergone in person training with a focus on mitigating bias that was integrated into our manager effectiveness training. Implementing this training gave our hiring managers a deep dive into unconscious bias as well as presented the tools and information needed to make informed decisions. Additionally, the distribution of the unconscious bias worksheet to over 200 individual hiring managers underscores embecta's commitment to providing ongoing support and resources for mitigating bias in the recruitment processes.
