Help employees recognize unconscious bias at work and limit its impact on employee performance, further driving our goal to narrow the diversity gap.
To tackle unconscious bias and help create more inclusive teams, Salesforce focused on creating talent development programs designed to bring about awareness, actions and change mindsets that can affect our understanding, decision making, and provide effective resources to alter those behaviors.
In 2016, we launched a global workshop called Cultivating Equality, designed to provide people managers with the tools to get the best out of their entire team by exploring the essential elements driving inclusion on their teams.
We also launched a module within Trailhead, Salesforce's online learning platform, to make this valuable information available to the rest of our Ohana. These courses examine what unconscious bias looks like in the workplace - including how bias can impact situations such as interviewing, coaching and development, talent reviews and day-to-day interactions - and helps users identify where bias comes from, provides exercises for self-reflection, and explains the dangers of unconscious bias when left untamed.
The Trailhead courses are free and open to the public, and were rolled out in nine countries in 2016. To date, more than 45,000 people have completed the trail.
As business leaders, we have a responsibility to stand up to discrimination and make equality part of the fabric of our companies. We are better people, companies and communities when we commit to equal pay, equal opportunity, equal education and equal rights. Salesforce is proud to take the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge.
