Unconscious Bias – Awareness and Action for Change

Challenge

We recognized that we had a need to raise awareness around the subject of unconscious bias, how it appears in the workplace.

Actions

Unconscious Bias training arose from our Women@Mazars initiative as an ongoing training designed to raise awareness around the subject of unconscious bias, how it appears in the workplace, the impact it has and how to try to minimize that impact.

Our talent management team has been delivering Unconscious Bias training to our entire workforce both via in person and via webinars over the past several months.  During these sessions our facilitators dig into the power of vulnerability, neuroscience of unconscious bias, in what forms they can appear and how to combat unconscious bias.   This includes “stop, start and continue” actions steps from our attendees they share with an accountability partner in efforts to support drive the change.

Outcomes

Unconscious Bias – Awareness and Action for Change training is going global, where it was most recently adopted in Mazars Ireland.

Quote

The accounting and professional services sector has struggled to achieve diversity. Although we have programs at Mazars USA to support diversity in the workplace, there is still more we can do. I believe that it is important to set a tone at the top that our people are our first priority.
