Transgender Health Benefits for Employees and Their Partners
Challenge
Anywhere Real Estate, the largest full-service residential real estate services company in the United States, has been an industry leader in supporting LGBTQ+ employees, agents and communities. Through ongoing conversations with employees about ways to be more inclusive, the company recognized that its benefits could be enhanced to better reflect the needs of all employees in today’s market and strengthen the company’s ability to attract and retain diverse talent.

Anywhere Real Estate (parent company of world-class brands including Century 21®, Coldwell Banker®, Coldwell Banker Commercial®, ERA®, Sotheby's International Realty®, Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate, Corcoran®, Citi HabitatsSM, Climb and ZipRealty®) promotes diversity and inclusion through active engagement and advocacy. Building on its strong record of support for the LGBTQ+ community, which includes being the first residential real estate company to endorse the Equality Act, as well as fully support H.R. 1447 amending the Fair Housing Act to include LGBTQ+ as protected classes, Realogy expanded its health benefits for transgender employees and their partners.
Newly covered services include gender reassignment surgery and pre- and post-operative benefits such as: behavioral health services, including, but not limited to, counseling for gender dysphoria and related psychiatric conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression); hormonal therapy and lab testing for monitoring purposes; and age-related, gender-specific services, including, but not limited to, preventive health such as cancer screening (e.g., cervical, breast, prostate).
Outcomes
Although employees and agents are not required to self-identify as LGBTQ+, enhanced transgender benefits support both recruitment and retention efforts. KPIs include Anywhere Real Estate's standing and improvement on national equality reports such as the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, where Realogy is the highest ranked residential real estate company in 2019, and repeated recognition from NAGLREP, the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals, of which Realogy is a founding member since 2006 and the only residential real estate partner at Gold Level. NAGLREP’s Top LGBTQ+ Agents List shows that many of the nation’s top producing LGBTQ+ agents are affiliated with Anywhere Real Estate brands.
