Training and Learning at Frazier & Deeter

Challenge

We value our people and believe in investing in relationships to make a difference. In order for us to continue to work towards a more diverse and inclusive environment, we must provide opportunities for training and learning.

Actions

Hosted our first mandatory firm-wide unconscious bias training which was facilitated by Kinda Abdus-Saboor and had a 95% attendance rate. The training was centered around ways to identify and combat potential biases that can inadvertently impact our decision making. We also provided opportunities for people at the firm to provide anonymous thoughts about what inclusivity should look like, practices that we need to integrate into the firm and the practices that we should eliminate to support inclusivity.

Implemented a structured hiring and recruiting process and host a firmwide training. The training provided examples of how unconscious bias can impact the interview process and provided tools for how to take action to ensure that it does not impact the recommendations to extend employment offers.

Facilitated a learning session with internal and external panelists to discuss obstacles faced by minority entrepreneurs and how we as a firm can offer strategies and solutions to potential and existing clients. The challenges minority business owners face can be different, so we need to understand how to address those needs to have a diverse work environment.

Outcomes

Provide opportunities for training and learning.
