Challenge

We recognize that working in a remote environment can make it challenging to stay connected. With everyone focused on their individual tasks, the spontaneous conversations that naturally occur in an in-person work setting are harder to replicate. It’s important to acknowledge these challenges and find creative ways to foster communication and camaraderie among team members, ensuring that everyone feels engaged and supported despite the physical distance.

Actions

Team Thrive has developed various initiatives to enhance organizational interaction. These include creative tools such as launching a cookbook, which encourages all employees to share their favorite recipes with the organization. Additionally, we have introduced the Thrive Cast, a podcast series where colleagues can share information about their roles at HR Acuity, discuss their career journeys, and connect with employees they may not have met before.

Outcomes

By sharing personal recipes through the cookbook, employees can connect over common interests and learn more about each other’s cultures and backgrounds. The Thrive Cast podcast series can foster a deeper understanding of colleagues’ roles and career paths, promoting a sense of community and collaboration. These efforts can lead to stronger relationships, improved communication, and a more inclusive and supportive organizational culture. Ultimately, these initiatives can enhance employee satisfaction and retention, as team members feel more valued and connected to the organization.

Quote

Replicating the connection we experience face to face in a remote setting requires some ingenuity. So, it was critical to dedicate a team and earmark resources for initiatives like a company cookbook or a podcast.
