Supporting the Transgender Community

Challenge

We want Viacom to be seen as a trans-inclusive employer and to use the power of our brands to give a voice to the transgender community.

Actions

Paramount Pictures, one of Viacom’s flagship brands, has participated in the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Transgender Economic Empowerment Project annual job fair for many years. Most recently, Paramount joined a select group of employers in Southern California for a photo shoot highlighting transgender employees, as well as the diversity teams that support them. Viacom also uses its media platforms to raise awareness and support for the transgender community. Programs like “Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word” and “Transformation” on MTV help audiences gain a better understanding of issues impacting trans people.

Outcomes

A pop-up photo gallery will travel to locations around Los Angeles, providing visibility to the trans community and showcasing Viacom as a trans champion.

Viacom has a long history of creating progressive and inclusive programming. By shining light on the transgender community, we are offering our audiences the opportunity to learn and be inspired by these important yet often untold stories.
