Strategic Partnerships that Drive Social Justice and Racial Equity

Challenge

To make strategic investments that help our communities become more just and equitable.

Actions

At Red Ventures, we not only want to be the change we wish to see within our walls, but we also want to invest strategically in helping our communities become more just and equitable places. As a company, we are committed to promoting social justice and racial equity, and to supporting organizations that align with our mission. We operate in a number of industries (Financial Services, Healthcare, Higher Education, Travel, Media & Technology, Entertainment, etc.), and we are seeking to learn about how systemic racism exists within and affects those markets. In doing so, we can be part of the solution toward eliminating injustice; and as such, we are pairing our internal education efforts with nonprofit partners who are making a meaningful impact in those industries.

Outcomes

Last fall, coupled with our voter education project, we invested in and partnered with VoteAmerica and Black Voters Matter to educate internally and externally on why voting matters, to reduce voter suppression and to get out the vote for the 2020 general election. As part of that work, we collaborated closely with VoteAmerica to help them reach 100 million people by educating voters through our online content, and elevating VoteAmerica’s voter engagement tools that were designed to provide equitable access to all users by removing barriers. The tools allowed individuals to register as voters, request mail-in ballots, locate polling places, and more. As a result of this tool integration, we were able to make a significant impact in our Healthcare businesses - our Healthline Media platform alone saw a total of 165,000 user sessions on its voter tools.

In addition, we have invested in and are partnering with the Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM) and the Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI) as part of our focus on mental health.

At Red Ventures, we believe we can be the change we wish to see in the world. We believe that action expresses priorities and that we have a responsibility to interrupt injustice and indifference whenever we see it. By holding ourselves accountable to being open and inclusive teammates, community members, and leaders inside the walls of RV, we hope to set an example for others in the world to follow.
