Return to Work

Challenge

Less than half of the women who leave the workforce and want to return are able to successfully do so. This program was designed to create meaningful opportunities for experienced professionals to re-enter the workplace.

Actions

Morgan Stanley's Return to Work Program is designed for experienced professional women and men who have taken a career break of 2 years or more. The program sources candidates with relevant experience who are looking to return full-time into the workforce in a career in Financial Services and places them in a 12-week internship program. Participants are placed in roles based on their skills and interests, working with colleagues, peer mentors, technology advisors, and senior leaders throughout the Firm. Following the internship program, participants have the opportunity to convert their experience into full-time employment.

Outcomes

Over 3,000 applications have been received globally with approximately 130 candidates having successfully completed the program with opportunities in divisions across the Firm. Over 60% of the participants have converted their opportunities from an internship into full-time employment. While the program is open to all genders and ethnicities, the majority of the participants in the program have been women.
