After the senseless death of George Floyd, Vi’s Executive Management Team and Board of Directors, Vi felt compelled to condemn violence and hate and reaffirm our ongoing commitment to be a great place to work for ALL employees. We recognize that only by interacting with, and listening to people of all races, backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientation, and abilities we can hope to truly understand and appreciate one another.
Vi’s President and CEO reaffirmed in a letter to all employees and residents that the Company remains steadfast in our commitment to cultivating a workplace that promotes equity, and diversity in an environment that sets an example for the greater community and that we stand against racism, systemic injustice, and police brutality.
Towards providing all Vi employees an opportunity to turn anguish and a sense of helplessness into a positive purpose, Vi employees voted for their top 501c3 philanthropic organizations that champion diversity, equity, and inclusion among a slate of charities that met the following criteria:
Charities meeting these criteria were selected by a cross-functional team of corporate and field team members. Employees were then asked to vote and select the top three charities for Vi to make donations to in 2020. Based on an overwhelmingly level of participation, the following philanthropic organizations were selected for donations based on employee input:
While this effort is obviously not a solution to longstanding systemic inequalities and discrimination many of our family members, friends, and team members have faced over the years, we believe it represents a positive step in the march towards a more just society.
