Actions
  • Centene believes all employees should be comfortable bringing their unique selves to work. Our annual “I Count — Why I Self-Identify” campaign encourages employees to voluntarily self-identify their gender, LGBTQIA+ identity, and status as a veteran and/or person with disabilities.
  • Centene’s National Disability Advisory Council (CNDAC) plays a critical role in ensuring workplace inclusion. Established in 2014, CNDAC is comprised of national leaders in disability advocacy who work on enterprise-wide recommendations and initiatives that advance disability inclusion in Centene's workforce and membership and product offerings.
  • Partnership with Disability:IN on education and community engagement initiatives, including the supplier diversity program. Employees across the company interview business owners seeking certification as disability-owned business enterprises.
  • In May 2019, Centene hired an ADA accommodations SME to build and lead a centralized accommodation operation. Since then, the ADA Team has integrated Centene’s disability inclusion philosophy into a set of guidelines that inform their daily work, positioning ADA accommodations as a business advantage.
  • Centene’s people with disabilities and caregivers employee inclusion group, ABILITY, supports and enables employees to fully contribute and reach their full potential in the workplace. ABILITY works to challenge the stereotypes and stigma associated with people with disabilities and to expand disability cultural competency.
  • The Accessibility Center for Excellence (ACE) partners with business units throughout the organization to improve access to opportunity for Centene’s workforce. Most recently, ACE worked with the ADA Accommodations team to access the company’s eLearnings and provided
Outcomes

Centene is steadfast in enhancing disability inclusion, with 10% of our workforce voluntarily self-identifying as person with a disability. Since 2018, we have been recognized by the Disability Equality Index (DEI) as one of the Best Places to Work for People with Disabilities. Centene was also recognized by the National Organization on Disability (NOD) as a Leading Disability Employer.
