Practice Self-care and Flexibility with Meeting Effectiveness and Prioritization Tips

Challenge

In these uncertain times, it has become more important than ever for Bayer to deliver on our commitments – to our customers, to our employees, and to our society as a whole. Our ability to communicate effectively, whether in person or virtually, continues to be a critical part of our efforts to collaborate effectively and connect personally. At the same time, it is important that each of us take time to understand our needs, connect to resources, and support others. Part of the challenge of the new working environment created by these priorities is balancing the need for meetings and our need to make the best use of limited time.

Actions

Bayer has encouraged leaders and employees to engage in regular dialogues to discuss priorities including the prioritization of meetings. We have provided resources, training, and discussion guides as part of our “Forward Together” initiative. These tools and practices can help all of us cope, connect, and perform as we navigate new environments.

Outcomes

As businesses and teams align on ground rules for meetings, our employees have reflected an appreciation for leaders’ active support of employee well-being and empowering employees to speak up regarding priorities. See the attached meeting effectiveness and prioritization tips as one example of how Bayer is encouraging employees to practice self-care and balance priorities across work, home, families, and life. Using these tips, one organization reported reducing approximately 7 hours/month in meeting time, providing employees with valuable flexibility to manage other priorities.
