Please Join Me in Rejecting Racism

Statement

In the midst of the suffering, outrage and conversations occurring about the death of George Floyd and a much longer history of racism, delivering on our commitment to support our community has never been more important. We have a responsibility to recognize injustice and work together to create an inclusive and equitable society that rejects racism and all it stands for.

We know our colleagues are hurting right now and that each of us are affected in our own unique way. While we process and react on an individual basis, together we can do more.

While we are taking steps to address unconscious bias in our workplace and supporting a firm culture of various backgrounds, experiences and perspectives through our Diversity & Inclusion program, unconscious bias awareness training, and the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge program, we must continue to look inward, and outward, to do what we can to create a more just world. We have to hope and encourage others to do the same.

In response to recent events, we will have an open and honest discussion with two of our BSW Family members on how racism impacts them personally and professionally at our virtual Town Hall on June 4th.

Respectfully Rejecting Racism,
Tony

*Not mentioned in this internal communication, an additional action that we are pursuing is anti-racism training for all employees.*

Quote

Diversity represents the full spectrum of human demographic differences including but not limited to - race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status or physical disability. Workplace diversity is understanding, accepting and valuing those differences between people. Inclusion refers to a cultural and environmental feeling of belonging. Workplace inclusion is having a supportive and respectful environment that increases employee collaboration. Together, diversity and inclusion reinforce our firm mission, vision and values. Having a formal diversity and inclusion program means that we are committed to having a culture of various backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. By doing so, we leverage its effects to achieve a competitive business advantage.
