Philanthropy and Community Involvement

Challenge

To engage our employees in philanthropic efforts, not just at the corporate level, but in activities that impact the local communities they live and work in.

Actions

Budget was proactively allocated to each division, to use in support of local philanthropic and community involvement efforts. Each division was given the freedom to choose the causes and organizations that spoke to the fundamental ethos of those teams.

Outcomes

In 2021, we have had a significant increase in interest in our workforce wanting to be involved in efforts to help others. To be able to provide those opportunities has not only strengthened our working relationships with one another, but also with our local community organizations. We work to remain true to our mission to intentionally push forward efforts for greater equality, and also reach beyond to ensure that our local teams are impacting change in meaningful ways that they believe are critical to their local communities. We have dozens of examples of this life changing work and activities have included a neighborhood and coastal cleanup days, food and clothing drives, packing of meals for home-bound patients and their families, building bikes for children in need, creating blankets for cancer center care packages, fundraisers for disease-specific advocacy groups and more.

Internationally, our offices have worked with organizations helping to support children with the rare diseases of Epidermolysis bullosa and Batten disease, as well as volunteering with MacMillan Cancer Research.
