PGA CARES

Challenge

Build company culture while making an impact and serving the diverse needs of our communities where we live, work and play

Action

In July 2021, we created our first Employee Volunteer Program called PGA Cares that allows employees 16 hours of paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) annually. Our goal is to create immersive, transformative and inclusive volunteer experiences for our employees and to allow them the time to give back to their communities during their work day.

It was important to PGA of America leadership to listen to all stakeholders and to survey all employees to gain an understanding of what cause areas are important to them and the non-profits that they would find meaningful to serve. As a result, we provide company led volunteer activities at least quarterly and encourage our teammates to get involved and stay engaged in the community individually. We have also equipped our employees with a volunteer management software called VOMO where employees can be connected to existing needs in the community and cause areas of interest to them.

Outcomes

Nearly 40% of our staff have engaged with the PGA Cares program since July 2021 serving a variety of diverse non-profits across the country. Additionally, we organized our inaugural company-wide give back day in August 2022, encouraging all of our employees, including our leadership, to take the time to serve and look forward to this becoming an annual event.
