Message from Geoff Ballotti, President and Chief Executive Officer

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is committed to operating our business in a way that is socially, ethically and environmentally responsible. As the world’s largest hotel franchising company, we have a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the world while advancing our mission to make hotel travel possible for all.

Travel empowers people to experience the incredibly diverse world we live in. Diversity is key to our business, and we strive to maintain a culture of inclusion for our team members, partners and guests. We respect differences in people, ideas and experiences. Our core values, grounded in caring, respect, inclusiveness and fundamental human rights, infuse different perspectives that reflect our diverse customers, team members, and communities around the world. We foster partnership and we welcome all. We never underestimate the power of compassion, we generously give our time and attention, and we take action.

In our second year as an independent company, we achieved 100% gender pay equity at the executive level globally, we advanced participation in our six affinity business groups (ABGs), and we earned a perfect score on the HRC Corporate Equality Index in support of LGBTQ employees. Our recorded responsible supplier spend was 25% and our diverse supplier spend was 12.6%.

Additionally, we have been named:

  • A Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality by the Human Rights Campaign – with a perfect score of 100 – for two years in a row.
  • A 2020 Noteworthy Company for Diversity by Diversity Inc., the gold standard organization in the U.S. for ranking companies for diversity, equality and inclusion.
  • One of World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute for the second year in a row.
  • A 2020 Best for Vets Employer by Military Times and a 2021 Military Friendly Employer by VIQTORY. Our La Quinta brand was again named to “Best of the Best” lists by U.S. Veterans Magazine for top veteran-friendly companies and top supplier diversity programs.

While we are proud of our progress, we know we can do more. We pledge the following action:

  • Selected members of our Executive Committee will serve as executive sponsors of our ABGs to help expand their influence and serve as catalysts for growth and increased business impact.
  • We have appointed each of the ABG leaders to our Social Responsibility Council to help align our business plans with our diversity and inclusion strategies.
  • We are bolstering our efforts to attract, retain, and promote diverse candidates.
  • We are expanding our supplier diversity program.
  • We are enhancing Diversity & Inclusion training, which already includes unconscious bias training, for all team members, and we are incorporating Diversity & Inclusion goals into the performance reviews of our senior leaders.
  • We are seeking to develop a broader and more diverse franchisee base by partnering with organizations such as the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers to increase minority hotel ownership and the Asian American Hotel Ownership Association to help foster increased female development and hotel ownership.

Travel is one of the world’s most universal experiences, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts remains committed to operating our business in a way that empowers and unites us through travel. As we continue on our Diversity & Inclusion journey, we will give our time, attention and action to the causes we’re passionate about. One team member at a time, we believe we can find ways to make meaningful change in our company, in our communities, and in the world.
