American Family Insurance made a strong commitment to supporting our LGBTQ employees and their families with LGBTQ inclusive employment benefits. Among other benefits, we provide equivalent spousal and partner medical benefits and equal health coverage for transgender individuals.
Our company celebrates Pride month. Our LGBT+A Business Resource Group sponsors a Pride flag-raising ceremony at our National Headquarters to kick off the month. During the month, we have “Wear your pride” week and encourage employees to wear a specific color each day. Agents and employees also represent American Family in Pride parades in Denver, St. Joseph, MO, and Eden Prairie, MN. We have also enhanced cultural awareness training and giving guidelines for our philanthropy efforts.
For three consecutive years, American Family Insurance has earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Our most recent score of 100 percent came in 2018 and we anticipate making the list again in 2019.
