Health equity means that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. Quartz is more than just a health insurance company. As a health management company, we play a key role in making sure our members and our communities have that opportunity.

Systemic inequalities negatively impact health care. Health care access alone is dependent on having nearby providers, transportation, time off from work, insurance, etc. And that’s just access. When you look at health care as a whole and start to think about the impact of other factors like housing, employment and education, it becomes even more challenging.

At Quartz, our vision is for a future where well-living is always within reach for all our members, no matter in which community they live. For us to live our purpose and achieve our vision, we must actively address health inequities.

Here are just a few actions Quartz is taking to improve the health of our members:

• Developing new processes and collaborating with our provider sponsors when members express concern due to DE&I
• Completing NCQA Health Equity Accreditation to reinforce our commitment to eliminate disparities and ensure equal access to high-quality care
• Working to identify and reduce health disparities among different racial and ethnic groups, with an emphasis on improving outcomes for high blood pressure control, pre/postnatal care, and diabetes control

In working together with our provider sponsors and analyzing the data in order to make informed decisions, Quartz plays a critical role in helping communities foster an inclusive environment where the opportunity to live a healthy life is within reach for everyone.
