Living, Learning, and Owning our Million Data Points

Challenge

As a technology company, we know the issues facing Diversity in Silicon Valley. Splunk wants to break the cycle of racial and social inequity in the workplace. Our goals are to:

  • Celebrate individuality and encourage everyone to be their authentic selves at work.
  • Continue to follow through on Splunk’s commitment to equity, globally.
  • Educate our employees on why discussing racism matters - requiring focus not only during critical times but all of the time.
Actions
  • Continue building from our Million Data Points program and Addressing Unconscious Bias efforts to foster a culture that encourages everyone to bring their authentic selves to work.
  • Share our belief that all leaders own Racial Equity and Social Justice.
  • Developed a vital workshop where Splunk discussed how world history and its connections to race and ethnicity as well as governmental policies affect everyone today.
Outcomes
  • In our last employee sentiment survey, 85% of employees felt people from all backgrounds have equal opportunities for success at Splunk.
  • In the same survey, 87% of employees believed that their manager demonstrated a visible commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Participants of our Racial Equity workshop demonstrated a 50.5% average increase in knowledge/capability between pre- and post-session surveys.
  • 100% of attendees said they understood the difference between “prejudice,” “discrimination,” and “systemic racism.”
