LGBTQ Equality; Inclusion Education and Training; Affinity Groups and Networking at AEG

Challenge

Continue advancing our culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion through practices and resources that support increased inclusivity of the LGBTQ community.

Actions

At AEG, we believe our culture must reflect the diverse communities we serve and that all types of differences -gender, ethnicity, physical ability, veteran status, neurodiversity, sexual orientation, gender expression, and more -- promote diversity of thought that is critical to our success.

We have a history of supporting the LGBTQ community which includes having signed in 2013 the first openly gay professional athlete to play for any major sports league in the U.S. In 2018, we undertook a review of our policies and training to ensure they were equitable for all employees; created a framework for an employee network group designed to help guide the company's support for the community; broadened our recruiting effort; and partnered with the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (LAGLCC) to establish a Capacity Building Program for LGBTQ owned businesses.

Outcomes

In 2019, we received a 100 on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index; commenced diversity and inclusion and unconscious bias education for our global workforce, and for the second year expanded our recruiting activities in Los Angeles to include TransCanWork Career Fairs for the transgender community.

In January 2019, we launched PRIDE@AEG, in L.A., that helps inform our activities with the community, including our participation in the 2019 LA Pride Parade and the presentation of a panel discussion focused on the history of the LGBTQ movement in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, that was livestreamed to our global employees. In March, we selected Nomadica, a women-owned canned wine company, to participate in our inaugural LAGLCC Capacity Building Program.

At AEG, diversity and inclusion are more than a corporate policy-they are embedded into our daily operations. As the world's leading sports and live entertainment company, we strive to ensure that the suppliers we engage and the employees we hire reflect the rich breadth of the communities where we conduct business. We are committed to growing a best-in-class approach to diversity, equity and inclusion because it is not only the 'right thing to do,' but because employees are more engaged and productive when they feel respected, valued and truly belong.
