Actions

Over the last few years, we have taken steps in increase the representation of women on our Board of Directors. We are proud to say we are now at 50/50 gender parity on our Board, with 6 women and 6 men. In 2019, because of these strides we have made at improved gender diversity on our Board, we were recognized by the Women’s Forum of New York’s Breakfast of Corporate Champions.

We have also significantly improved representation of women in our most senior leadership roles, making a 25% improvement at our Senior Vice President level and a 20% improvement at our Group Vice President level.

Outcomes

Our Board of Directors is now among the most diverse boards in terms of gender representation. Combined with the increased representation of women at our most senior levels of leadership, we are making strong progress to ensure we provide equal opportunities for advancement and inclusion, as well as the Company fully benefiting from the many contributions of all the great women we are fortunate enough to have across our teams.

Sally Beauty Holdings is a part of every type of community that exists across the countries in which we do business. We have a rich history of serving the beauty needs of a wide variety of retail and professional customers and employing similarly diverse associates on our teams. Diverse customers, associates and suppliers have been a huge part of our success story, and it’s important to understand that we need to play a role in making sure they all have similar opportunities to succeed and thrive – both with our Company and in society at large.

I believe CEOs have an opportunity to play a special, powerful role in accelerating progress on Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging within their own companies, industries and the world. We are the decision-makers. We set and drive the strategy and priorities. We hold our teams accountable. Our actions and words demonstrate to our teams and others what is important to us. We must do all of those things with Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging viewed not as a “nice to have” or a project, but as a strategic imperative that is core to the success of our companies and ourselves.

I am committed to making significant progress on Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging within SBH and the communities we serve and I know our Board, leaders and team are equally focused on driving long-lasting, meaningful change.
