Challenge

We believe that top candidates representing diverse demographics may be more inclined to accept employment offers when they experience a sense of belonging and connection during the interview process, and when interviewers also represent diversity in race, ethnicity, culture, gender, and other forms of diversity that reflect the world we live in.

Actions

We’ve developed and implemented a Diverse Interview Panel Approach to increase diversity among interview teams to include gender, ethnicity, generation, and other forms of diversity.

Outcomes

Our goal is to increase diversity in new hires, engage our diverse employee population, and reduce bias in our recruitment and hiring process. This ultimately leads to improved hiring decisions, increased team innovation and business performance. First quarter feedback by managers has been positive in terms of how they view this. This is an ongoing change management effort as many of our sites typically utilize small interview panels, thus requiring a different way of thinking and creative planning for interviews.
