Inclusion Education and Training at Wipfli

Challenge

Understand Unconscious Bias, recognize how it manifests in our lives, take steps to mitigate the impact of acting from bias, and encourage associates to have brave conversations around biases and how they impact our decisions, our culture and, ultimately, the success of Wipfli.

Actions
  1. Launched “Unconscious Bias-The Power of Inclusion” training for Wipfli’s global associates in July 2019 and expanded it in 2020 to include smaller offices as well as our international teams
  2. Curated self-paced learning materials with accompanying discussions guides for shared experiential group learning
  3. Curated miscellaneous resources across books, movies, documentaries, and podcasts to enable self-awareness and learning about biases and inclusion
  4. Provided learning tracks in LinkedIn Learning for those who want to deepen their learning
  5. Supported employee-driven creation of Business Resource Groups. Our first groups launched in August 2020 (Wipfli Pride and Women of Wipfli) with several more in early stages of forming.
Outcomes

Approximately 1,500 Wipfli associates have or will have participated in Unconscious Bias training by the end of 2020. Wipfli takes pride in the deep commitment associates have shown for Unconscious Bias training. The firm’s leadership has been steadfast in its commitment towards an equitable workplace and community, and the voluntary participation of associates in this journey of discovery and learning speaks volumes about their commitment to a more equitable culture.

Business Resource Groups have received enormous support and have a significant number of allies. Both groups are active within the organization and reaching out to the community for collaboration and learning
opportunities.
