Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Part of Our Culture From Day One

Challenge

Vontier was established October 19th 2020, separating from Fortive Corporation. From Day One, Inclusion Diversity and Equity has been written right into our values – Stronger together. Working as one diverse team, acting with agility, integrity, inclusion, and trust. We are being very deliberate and focused about the environment and culture we want to create for everyone.

Actions

Employee Resource Groups

We are taking a hybrid approach to ERG’s. At the Vontier level we have created 8 ERG’s where the Executive Sponsors, ERG Chairs and Steering Committee have been appointed to lead and drive our ERG’s. Our 5 Operating Companies can elect to form local ERG’s which will become chapters of the Corporate Vontier ERG, aligning to their mission, however they will have local goals, to allow for local relevance. We have created a playbook and guides to ensure that all our ERG’s are set up for success. This includes how we measure their impact. 

In addition, we have created an ERG Leadership Forum, that meets monthly, consisting of the ERG Chairs, to create collaboration across ERG’s; sharing best practices; supporting each other; co-sponsorship of events and initiatives.

Our Leadership:

  • 5 of 12 execs are women: Chief Strategy Officer, General Counsel, Chief Information Officer, VP Corp. Strategy, President of one of our operating companies
  • 3 are underrepresented minorities; 1 openly identifies as LGBTQ
  • 6 are ERG executive sponsors
  • 2 of the 6 Vontier board members are women, including board chair and Gloria Boyland, named one of most powerful Black women in corporate America.

Inclusion Education and Training:

  • 50+ companywide Courageous Conversations on racism and injustice summer of 2020
  • Blind Spots mandatory unconscious bias training, with 95% completion rate.
  • Keep Educating Yourself Series (KEYS). Our extensive library of ID&E resources for managers and employees includes ongoing training on anti-racism and other critical topics
Outcomes

The diverse leadership team and board we have created. The feedback from employees on the courageous conversations we held has been overwhelmingly positive. More results to come based on our annual employee engagement survey.
