Inclusion and Unconscious Bias Education

Challenge

To help employees understand the intersectionality of diversity, equity and inclusion, recognize and interrupt unconscious biases, and contribute to creating spaces of authenticity and belonging.

Actions

As part of our ongoing commitment to building a better workplace, Eastridge engaged Michelle Silverthorn, a leading diversity and inclusion expert, to conduct a training for our employees and clients. Silverthorn, “believes that diversity and inclusion needs a new voice for a new generation and has worked with Fortune 500 companies, tech start-ups, non-profit organizations...to move forward on diversity and inclusion”. The webinar, They Still Call Me the Nanny: How to Interrupt Bias and Make Inclusion Matter for Good, included employee-owners of Eastridge as well as some client representatives. We challenged participants to be open to authentic dialogue, create a positive, inclusive and equitable work environment, and to find ways in which they can bring about positive change both in their work and personal life.

Outcomes

The feedback from team members was widely recognized and the positive impact was seen in the company’s following NPS (net promoter score) and increased participation amongst the affinity groups. The training was recorded and is shared with new employees on our company intranet as part of new hire orientation. Active employees are also encouraged to revisit the training whenever they need a refresher.
