Impactful Inclusion: Fueling REAL Innovative Solutions

Challenge

Real Chemistry faced the challenge of fostering a more inclusive workplace while enhancing the quality of client solutions. In the evolving healthcare landscape, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) emerged as crucial for innovative and effective client interactions. To maintain a competitive edge and address internal cultural needs, Real Chemistry recognized the necessity of equipping employees with DE&I competencies.

Actions

In May 2024, Real Chemistry launched "Impactful Inclusion: Fueling REAL Innovative Solutions," a series of dynamic learning modules designed to elevate workplace interactions and client solutions. This initiative includes several key components:

  1. Quarterly Learning Sessions:
    These 30-minute interactive modules focus on specific DE&I competencies essential for broadening understanding and application in all aspects of work. The inaugural session on Unconscious Bias, launched on May 22, 2024, challenges employees' perspectives to foster a more inclusive workplace.

  2. Quarterly Panel Discussions:
    Featuring senior leaders, these discussions provide a platform for colleagues to exchange experiences, gain new insights, and engage in continuous dialogue on DE&I topics covered in the learning modules. Aligned to the first item of the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge, this initiative cultivates an environment of open communication and shared learning, where our employees feel comfortable reaching out to one another, building trust, compassion, empathy, and a culture of inclusivity.

  3. Targeted Unconscious Bias Training for Hiring Managers:
    Recognizing the pivotal role of hiring managers in shaping the organizational culture, Real Chemistry made the Unconscious Bias leadership module mandatory for all hiring managers when opening a new job requisition. This ongoing initiative enhances recruitment strategies, ensuring the formation of diverse teams that reflect the markets and clients served, while equipping managers with skills to recognize and mitigate bias.

  4. Inclusive Onboarding for New Employees:
    Starting in August 2024, the "Respect in the Workplace" module became a mandatory part of the onboarding experience for all new hires within their first 90 days. This initiative instills essential DE&I fundamentals aligned with Real Chemistry's core values, providing a strong foundation of inclusion from the onset of employment.

Outcomes

Since the launch on May 22, 2024, of "Impactful Inclusion: Fueling REAL Innovative Solutions," Real Chemistry has observed several positive outcomes:

  • Out of 362 people enrolled, 323 completed the sessions, resulting in an 87% completion rate.
  • The modules received an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 from participants, indicating high engagement and positive feedback.
  • Leaders see the value of this training for their teams and are making it mandatory for their organizations, demonstrating a commitment to DE&I at all levels.
    As we continue this initiative, we expect to grow the DE&I awareness and education, improving workplace interactions and client solutions, thereby enhancing our services and fostering an inclusive environment for all.
