HERE: Empowering Women Leaders

Challenge

While Paramount Global enjoys gender balance up to the Vice President level, we recognized a gender gap at the Senior Vice President level and higher.

Actions

Several years ago, HERE was established. This Employee Resource Group is targeted at female leaders at the Director through Vice President levels, in order to strengthen the pipeline of women to fill roles at the Senior Vice President level and above by providing executive access, as well as leadership development opportunities. The ERG has flourished, with chapters in cities around the world.

During Women’s History Month 2017, HERE hosted “A Conversation with Shari Redstone” in New York and Los Angeles. Attracting more than 500 attendees, the two events provided an opportunity for employees to hear directly from Paramount Global's Vice Chair. It is worth noting that Paramount Global has been recognized by 2020 Women on Boards for having women serve on more than 20% of its Corporate Board seats.

Outcomes

Following the ERG Leadership Summit, there was a noticeable uptick in the number of collaborative events across ERGs and across geographic locations. Furthermore, we have launched ERGs in additional Paramount Global locations around the world.

Quote

I am proud of Paramount Global's roster of senior executives who are leading their teams and our organization through dynamic times in the media industry. Many of them happen to be women, but I see them first and foremost as strong leaders.
