Growing Together: DEIB Training at LGA

Challenge

At LGA, we know that building a truly inclusive and supportive workplace goes beyond talking about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). It requires real ongoing effort and education to help our team feel empowered to make a difference every day.

Our challenge was figuring out how to move past basic awareness and ensure everyone has the tools and confidence to recognize and address unconscious biases, while fostering respect and empathy in all their interactions.

Actions

To address this challenge, LGA implemented a comprehensive DEIB education and training program aimed at cultivating an inclusive mindset across the firm:

  1. Leadership Engagement: Focused training sessions on leadership's role in embracing DEIB equipped our leaders with the tools and skills to champion inclusivity and drive meaningful change.
  2. Unconscious Bias Training: This training helps team members identify and challenge unconscious biases, promoting equitable decision-making and fostering a greater understanding of diverse perspectives.
  3. Respect in the Workplace Training: This training emphasizes the importance of mutual respect, creating a foundation for open dialogue and collaboration.
  4. DEIB Onboarding Training: This training covers the fundamentals of DEIB, including key concepts such as allyship and microaggressions. It also highlights our commitment to DEIB, shares initiatives we’ve undertaken in the past, and outlines opportunities for new team members to get involved in ongoing efforts.
  5. 2025 Year Long Firm Wide DEIB Trainings: Team members can watch short “episodes” and answer questions as they watch. We love this idea because it’s something they can engage with on their own time, and it’s interactive. Team members can also participate in discussion board topics on the intranet, where we share reflections, ideas, and stories.

Outcomes

The results of these efforts have been truly transformative for LGA.

Embedding DEIB education into our firm, has created a culture of continuous learning, where inclusion and belonging are at every level. The success of these initiatives not only enhances the workplace experience for our team but also reinforces our commitment to building a more just and inclusive world.
