Global Women’s Network

Challenge

McDermott recognizes the role and importance of workplace inclusion in relation to retaining and advancing female employees.

Actions

McDermott relaunched the Global Women’s Network (GWN) following its merger with Chicago Bridge & Iron in 2018 with a renewed commitment and focus on professional development and advocacy.

Program Purpose:
We proudly create growth opportunities for women and serve as a trusted partner to drive inclusivity through greater female participation and representation at McDermott.

Through GWN we:

  • Deliver opportunities for women to enhance and upskill their leadership competencies through program activities
  • Foster an inclusive environment where women can support one another, through networks and sponsorship
  • Deliver positive impacts and contributions to McDermott’s gender diversity and inclusion efforts
  • Demonstrate McDermott’s core values: Commitment, Integrity, One Team, Go Beyond and Well-Being.
Outcomes

The Global Women’s Network is supported with executive sponsorship and global oversight as well as regional leadership teams and sponsors in all four operating areas: Asia Pacific (APAC), Europe, Africa, Caspian and Russia (EARC), Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and North, Central, South America (NCSA).

There are more than 20 active GWN Chapters across McDermott, with the Chapters recently launched in Rio de Janeiro, Qingdao and Dubai.

To promote inclusivity – GWN events and activities are typically open to all employees.

This year, the Global Women’s Network utilizes LeanIn.org’s “50 Ways to Fight Bias” Activity as a means to promote bias awareness and training across our offices. Facilitated by GWN Leads, sessions have been hosted in Bloomfield, New Jersey, Houston, Texas, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Plainfield, Illinois, and The Woodlands, Texas.

More sessions are planned through the GWN Program.
