Gender Strategies at Janus Henderson Investors

Challenge

Create gender balance within all levels of the firm.

Janus Henderson is committed to improving diversity for the benefit of the company, our clients and our people. We will continue with the work underway on our Investment 2020 trainee programme, on our graduate intake, on identifying diverse and innovative recruitment feeds and identifying ways of addressing unconscious bias through a range of training initiatives. We will continue to support and promote our flexible working policies and leverage our Diversity and Inclusion Regional Councils and Employee Resource Groups across the organisation to ensure that good regional practices are shared and implemented effectively.

Actions

In 2017, we committed to increasing gender diversity within senior leadership by signing the Women in Finance Charter. In 2018, we implemented mandatory unconscious bias training for all employees and established an internal leadership and mentoring program. We expanded our recruiting partnerships and encouraged them to provide a diverse shortlist for all open roles. We also tied discretionary Executive compensation to our goals.

Outcomes

Since making our initial commitment, we have increased women representation at the Executive Committee to 36% globally. We also met and exceeded our UK Women in Finance Charter 2022 goal of 25% women in senior management and narrowed the gender pay gap.
