Establishing We.Belong: Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Belonging training focused on unconscious bias & psychological safety

Challenge:

To truly embed DEIB principles in a business, people first need to feel safe to be themselves. Creating safe places to be seen and heard without fear is a critical component of this. As a business, we wanted to ensure everyone, but especially leadership understood what it means to feel safe to express themselves freely and understand how to build a culture where individuals are accountable for their own unconscious biases.

Action:

We engaged an external partner, a consultancy that specializes in Inclusion, to work with us to develop and launch our unconscious bias and psychological safety program. Unique to Unispace, We. Belong. is a program of facilitated workshops and self-learning modules for all colleagues across our company.

Outcomes:

We first launched We.Belong. with 80+ of our leaders across the globe. The feedback from those who completed the program has been overwhelmingly positive, with participants reporting an increased awareness of definitions and best practices pertaining to unconscious bias and psychological safety. Early graduates of We.Belong. now share a common language and agency of the subject matter.
