Establishing a Culture of Employee Engagement and Belonging in the Development and Launch of Core Value Teams

Challenge

In June 2020, following our formation as an independent company backed by a consortium of investors led by The Carlyle Group and T&D Insurance Group, our executive team commenced initiatives to clearly articulate the vision, mission, and strategic imperatives for our Company.

Actions

Clearly articulating our core values and effectively engaging all employees in the process is critical to our success. Our core values represent our beliefs. These beliefs determine the actions we take as a Company and these actions determine our results. Our strategic imperative of forging a culture of employee engagement and performance excellence is supported through our creation of teams to support each of our core values:

Through the implementation of our Core Value Team (CVT) structure, each of our 120 employees are provided opportunities for professional growth and development by directly contributing to the design and implementation of company-wide initiates to ensure we consistently embody our core values.

Outcomes

In addition to increased employee engagement, satisfaction and sense of belonging through direct participation in initiatives they are most passionate about, through participation in the CVTs, our employees were provided opportunities for leadership and increased exposure across the Company. Focusing on our core value of Embrace Diversity and Teamwork, during the month of November 2020, our core value team members provided training opportunities for all employees to gain awareness of their unconscious biases and to develop practical strategies to mitigate the impact of biases when they arise. Leveraging a curated library of thought provoking TED Talks, tackling topics such as gender and racial equality, our core value team members established a forum utilizing our corporate messaging platform, where all employees are encouraged to share their perspectives, insights, and awareness gained after viewing the TED Talk.
